POPJOY STUDIO
PopJoy Studios is the translation of ceramics and wildly colorful art into everyday objects created by mother-daughter team, Donna and Ginger, and backed by their business partner, Lacey Cornelius. With a background in interior design, they created the line of textiles, paper goods, candles, and decor to fit beautifully in any home while remaining true to their unique style. Each collaboration incorporates a great deal of thought, inspired by their mutual love of architectural movements, handcraft, history, and the splendor found in the natural world.
Donna’s paintings are vibrant and playful, the brilliant colors humming with the same restless energy found in any summer garden rich with botanicals and insect life. Woven into silk scarves and romantic, seasonal stationery, her work is complemented by a bright line of candles finished with small, ceramic seals inspired by historical Wedgewood patterns. Ginger’s contributions are stunning in their simplicity, with delicately crafted flowers resting atop entirely-handmade ceramic containers for the larger candles as well as intricate, botanical sculptures spinning a story all their own.
With mutual respect and a powerful legacy of craft, this mother-daughter team of artists will continue to innovate, inspiring joy and wonder with their creations to come.
MEET THE ARTIST | DONNA
At four years old, Donna created her first piece of art—a messy affair of wildflowers and natural elements drawn together by a child who’d spent almost every day out in her parents’ garden. Brimming with insects, swirls of pollen, and irises late every spring, she’d spend hours foraging with her mom, and collecting rocks to assemble into sculptures. These intimate moments inspired a legacy of handcraft that would extend to the next generation in Donna’s own little girl: Ginger.
MEET THE ARTIST | GINGER
Ginger was in the third grade when she started shaping animals out of clay—charming little creatures that were decidedly not flowers. As time passed, she tested the boundaries of her own creativity, turning to metalworking and interior design, and eventually back to sculpture which became her own sort of love story. Ginger graduated with a BFA in Studio Arts, Sculpture, and a Minor in Ceramics from UA—though she likes to joke that the only reason she finished with ceramics was because she could fit a kiln into her basement.
Both mother and daughter bore a dynamic heritage of creativity and willingness to explore different mediums, but it wasn’t until 2020 that they decided to partner at last, pouring their considerable talents and energy into one joint venture: PopJoy Studios.
